Sprouse's Corner Ranch, LLC

Sprouse’s Corner Ranch camps focus on horse management, riding skills, and safety around horses.   The campers begin their day with feeding, brushing, saddling and riding lessons.  They will then have the opportunity to bathe and care for their camp horse (our horse or yours!).  After a snack and some fun in the water, campers will learn a variety of horse management skills including first aid, health care, hoof care, feeding, illness management and prevention.  After lunch, the horses will be prepared for another riding lesson.  In the Horsemanship I, II and Advanced camps, the day will be finished up with demonstrations, educational games, and riding skills practice. Cost of the camp includes snacks, crafts and a t-shirt.  Each camp is from Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.  Parents with working schedules may arrange for early or late pickup.

Horsemanship I

This camp is geared toward beginning and intermediate students ages 7-16.  English and western riding lessons will be taught by a CHA certified instructor.  Lessons are formatted in a progressive manner emphasizing communication skills, body alignment and balance.  Fun and safety will be emphasized in the saddle and on the ground.  Riders will participate in crafts and games with their horses. Following a cookout and a hayride, campers will perform a horse show for the parents and family on the last day of camp. 

Horsemanship II

This camp is offered for intermediate riders , ages 7-16, or riders who have completed Horsemanship I camp.  Riding lessons will focus on developing an independent seat, more advanced riding skills,  and a more in-depth study of  horse management skills.  This camp introduces hunt seat, western, gymkhana, and saddle seat riding styles, as well as the opportunity to learn to drive a cart.  Campers will have the opportunity to  view live  demonstrations in disciplines such as dressage and polocross. Following a cookout and a hayride, new skills will be demonstrated to the parents and family on the last day of camp.   

Advanced Camp

This camp is offered for advanced riders, ages 7-17, who have developed an independent seat  at the walk, trot and canter.   Riders will practice more advanced skills in dressage, jumping, saddle seat riding, and western games such as barrel racing and pole bending.  Campers will also have the opportunity to go on a field trip to Bucking B Ranch, where they will watch a roping demonstration and have the opportunity to track a steer on horseback.  Campers will also have the option to show at the ABC Horse Show on Saturday to exhibit their skills learned in camp.

Junior Hoof Picker Camp

This camp is offered for 4-7 year olds.  It is from 9 am- 12 pm Monday-Friday.  Experienced ponies will teach these junior campers safety, grooming, and riding skills at their own pace.  Campers will have the opportunity to ride, learn and play horse related games each day.  Water sprinkler fun, hayrides, stick horse races, and learning to rope a steer are all included!  Limited space is available, so register as soon as possible to take advantage of this opportunity for your child to learn about horses and make new friends.
